Florianopolis
Florianopolis is the state capital of Santa Catarina and one of the three main islands of Brazil. It stands out for having the best human development index, about 0,875. This index turns Florianopolis into the fourth brazilean city with best quality of life, behind São Caetano do Sul (SP), Águas de São Pedro (SP) and Niterói (RJ).
It is located in the center-east of the state of Santa Catarina, its coasts are bathed by the Atlantic Ocean. A good part of Florianopolis (97,23%) is located on the Santa Catarina island, where together with the continental ones, there are nearly 100 beaches.
The economy of Florianopolis is based on its commercial activities, public services, industry and tourism. The fashion and computer industry have greatly developed in recent times.
Florianopolis offers many touristic attractions, specially the villages where the first Azorean immigrants established, such as Ribeirão da Ilha, Lagoa da Conceição, Santo Antônio de Lisboa and Florianopilis historical center.
The city is known for its paradisiac landscape. Its beautiful beaches are divided into North and South, and the main ones are: Canasvieiras, Brava, Joaquina and Mole. As there are many well known hotels on the coast of Floripa, as the city is better known, it is very difficult for the traveler to choose one for his holidays. One of them stands out for its facilities: the Costão do Santinho located on the Praia do Santinho, and which has been chosen as veneu for the X SLAMS Congress.
Congress Venue
The Costão do Santinho is located on the most beautiful of the 42 beaches: Santinho. The warm crystal waters will relax you before and after you take advantage of the amazing culinary delights in your lodging that will tempt your senses! With a choice of six restaurants and eateries, you are obliged to try the exquisite dishes in each one. Serving both traditional dishes and Westernised meals, there is always something for everyone.

Official Languages
The congress official languages will be Spanish and Portuguese. Main sessions will have simultaneous translation into English.
Certificate of Attendance
A certificate of attendance will be provided to all participants.
Official Invitation
An official letter of invitation will be forwarded to any participant upon request. However, this invitation implies no obligation, financial or otherwise, by the Congress.
Visa requirements
Brazil's visa policy is based on reciprocity; countries which require visa from Brazilian citizens are subjected to the same formality for their citizens. Visas can be obtained at the Brazilian Consulate within a couple of working days. In order to avoid unnecessary difficulties, please consult a travel agent or the nearest Brazilian Consulate in your country.
Climate
The weather is humid with a considerable amount of rainfall throughout the year. November through March has the highest average amount of rainfall and June through September has lowest average amount of rainfall.
The average temperature is between 20°C y 24°C. The average maximum temperature during the warmer month is between 28°C y 31°C and the average minimum temperature during the colder month is between 7,5°C and 12°C. We suggest that you pack comfortable clothes for low temperatures during the night.

La corriente eléctrica en el municipio es 220v (60 hertz), sin embargo, la mayoría de los hoteles poseen también tomas eléctricas de 110v en los baños.

The Organizing Committee and/or SLAMS is not to be liable for personal accidents or loss/damage of private properties of congress participants either during the congress or during any of the tours. It is therefore recommended that participants arrange their own personal health, accident and travel insurance.
