SEXUAL SATISFACTION: FEELING AND EXPRESSION OF LOVE

Introduction /Objective: Several studies report a reciprocal relationship between sexual satisfaction and marital satisfaction. Moreover, love and sexual concerns are interrelated. A high prevalence of sexual insatisfaction has been reported and both, marital and sexual satisfaction are associated with erectile function and adherence to pharmacological treatment of erectile dysfunction. The objetive of this study is to evaluate the relationship between sexual satisfaction, feeling love and expressing love. Material and Methods:319 people were studied. Locke and Wallace Marital Adjustment and Prediction test was applied. Responses to questions about sexual satisfaction, lack of affection and frequency of kisses were analized. Excel, SPSS 12.0 and Pearson Chi- square were used to analize the data. Results: 176 (55.2%) females and 143 (44.8%) males. Of the total sample, 119 (37.3%) people reported sexual satisfaction,102 (85.7%) who were sexually satisfied did not love their partner less, only 17 (14.2%) stated that they loved their partner less (Chi- square ,000). 69 (57.9%) sexually satisfied people kissed their partner every day and 50 (42%) almost never or never (Chi-square ,000). No significant gender differences were found. These results coincide with others regarding association between sexual satisfaction and love. In our results, both variables, with statistical significance: not only feeling love, but expressing love were more frecuent in sexually satisfied couples. Conclusions: Feeling and expressing love is more frequent in sexually satisfied couples.
