Objective: To evaluate long-term complications of the surgical procedures for Peyronie disease (PD) Material and Method: Between years 1995 and 2007, 162 patients with PD underwent surgery in our Division. Mean age was 59.1 years old and mean time of disease 17.5 months. Indication for surgery included coital difficulty or impossibility due to penile curvature, deformity or erectile dysfunction (ED). Surgical techniques included plication, incision or excision of the plaque and dermal graft or penile prosthesis. Results:109 (68%) patients underwent plication with Yachia technique in 90% of the cases, 32 (20%) patients had a penile prosthesis implanted (50% Ambicorä and 50% AMS malleable) and 21 (12%) patients had the plaque excised or incised and a patch grafted (55% dermal, 35% bovine pericardia and 10% saphenous vein grafts). Long-term complications are shown in the table below. Conclusion: Long-term complications of Peyronie´s surgical procedures are expectable. In our experience incision and excision of the plaque and a graft afterwards had the highest rate of complications. On the other hand, the implant of a penile prosthesis had the lowest complication rates but its indication is reserved to patients with Peyronie disease and ED.
