Tourism

Argentina

Argentina boasts a wide variety of cultural attractions but for many travelers, its natural wonders are the primary draw. Trips to the North include the renowned and spectacular Iguazú Falls as well as the Provinces of Salta, Jujuy and Tucumán. The province of Mendoza, to the West is known for its excellent wine production and the Andes Mountains with the Aconcagua peak, the highest in the Americas. The region of la Pampa, the main cattle raising district and the land of the “gauchos”, is an immense plain with splendid and comfortable “estancias” where you can enjoy the “asado” -the typical barbecue- and a large choice of sports and recreations. Going South, the Patagonia offers multiple attractions such as hiking wooded mountains, skiing resorts, and trout and salmon filled lakes. The most popular locations are Bariloche, San Martín de los Andes, Lago Argentino with Perito Moreno Glacier and Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world.

Iguazú Falls

The Iguazú Falls are considered one of the greatest scenic wonders of the world. The deep flowing waters of the river fall from a height of 70 meters through 275 falls along 2,7 Km. The border between Argentina and Brazil is marked by the “Garganta del Diablo” (Devil’s Gorge) cliff. The thunderous roar of crashing water and the multicolored mist which rises above the falls are natural beauties and grandeur at its best. Moreover, the Iguazú National Park is full of exotic subtropical vegetation, which surrounds the falls with over 2,000 plant species and is home to the region’s exotic wildlife, including more than 400 bird species.

The Northwest: Salta & Jujuy

Northern provinces feature traces of pre-Columbian cultures, mingled with ruins of natives’ villages, as well as forts and constructions dating back to the time of the Conquest and Colonization.
Time seems to stand still in the high plateau of the Puna, a land full of mountain ranges, steep mountain paths, and gorges. Villages have been built in the small valleys. Multi-coloured and monochromatic hills covered with huge cactuses on the slopes surround the village.
This region offers landscapes full of contrast for tourists to enjoy, from the high peaks to the plains, the salt pans, and the subtropical rain forests.

Mendoza

Mendoza is the land of wines, land of immense spaces that silently extend through the plains, only to be broken by the rocky mountain paths of the “Andes” range and soaked with their potent rivers. It is a beautiful green city with a great number of parks that offer a lively atmosphere with numerous restaurants, theatres and nightclubs. It is also the wine zone by excellence; it counts with numerous wineries for the production of wines of the highest quality that are exported to the whole world. Many can be visited by tourists to taste the different wine stumps, specially the area's dominant grape: Malbec.

Bariloche

Bathed by the clear waters of Lake Nahuel Huapi, Bariloche is one of the main tourist destinations in Patagonia. The facilities designed by man as well as the beauty offered by the natural environment mingle in perfect harmony to satisfy the visitor. For those in need of an extra dose of amusement, Bariloche is an invitation to its night life as well as for adventure activities. Its National Park, lakes of glacial origins, forests and mountains form an ecological zone that is unique in South America.

Calafate: Perito Moreno Glacier

Perito Moreno Glacier together with other twelve glaciers make up the biggest sliding masses of ice and snow of “Los Glaciares” National Park. A majestic glacier that descends from the ice cap into the Lake Argentino, forming a 4 kms wide and 60 meters high barrier. The Perito Moreno Glacier is one of the natural wonders of the world. Enjoy the natural show of the thundering falling ice from a wooden catwalk directly in front of the Canal de los Témpanos (Icebergs Canal) that separates Brazo Rico from the main lake.

Ushuaia

Located on the shores of the Beagle Channel and surrounded by the Andes, Ushuaia is the southernmost city in the world. It offers unique and wonderful scenery in Argentina: mountains and sea combined with glaciers and forest. You can visit different panoramic points such as the base of the Martial Glacier with a wonderful view of the city, Beagle Channel and the Glacier itself as well as places related to the history of the region: the Mission neighborhood, the first villages, the Government house, The End of the World Museum and the Old Prison (now the Maritime Museum) are just some of the spots to be visited. A small train takes you to the gates of the Tierra del Fuego National Park, inhabited by diverse flora and fauna species.
